We at the pharmacy email you for an unusual, urgent purpose. You may have learned recently from the news media about the controversy over Bill C-51which has just finished second Parliamentary reading in Ottawa. The Bill will go to Committee for further study, and then proceed to the third and final reading.

We believe the Bill as currently worded is at best, ambiguous, inconsistent and wrong-headed, and at worst is potentially dangerous to our consumer health-care liberties. We believe it deserves citizens' examination (see item # 6 below) and protest to our elected parliamentarians. We urge you to look into the matter, and if you feel it justified, to voice your concern to a government official.

Briefly, our specific concerns are as follows.

1] The prospective law can be used to remove your rightful access to vitamins, herbs, spices, dietary supplements & medicinal food. Promoted as a means to protect the safety of Canadians from untested natural health products, Bill C- 51 is a wide-reaching, little publicized and carefully crafted set of amendments to the federal Food & Drug Act that threatens Canadians rights to natural health products. Key changes include: replacing the word drug with therapeutic product throughout the Act, giving the Canadian Government broad-reaching powers to regulate the sale of all herbs, spices, vitamins, and supplements.

C-51 would require all other therapeutic products to go through an even more costly approval process than the current regulations require, which would be financially impossible for many natural health product manufacturers to meet, rendering the products unavailable to the public. Currently, 65% of the applications to Health Canada are being rejected. In the future, as a possible result of this legislation, only narrowly defined government approved natural health products, possibly to be considered prescription drugs, would be available to you - by prescription only!

2] C-51 will result in the outlawing of thousands of beneficial low risk natural health products. It would grant alarming new enforcement powers to federal inspectors to protect Canadians from dangerous unapproved therapeutic agents. Without oversight or appeal, products as benign as, for example, dandelion greens, blueberries, bottled water or vitamin C could become illegal to possess or distribute. As written, Bill C-51 can classify your food as a therapeutic product.

3] C-51 would also allow federal enforcement agents to raid your home or business without a warrant, seize your bank accounts, and levy fines up to $5 million with jail terms up to 2 years for selling or drying herbs in your kitchen, such activity now to be categorized as controlled activity. Bill C-
51 allows for the confiscation of your property, and then the charging of storage fees on that property plus a charge for the government bureaucracy's time! In effect, such legislation will destroy an industry that is the age-old alternative to conventional allopathic medicine. Natural medicine works well, is increasingly scientifically-based, and is traditionally and widely used in North America, Europe, and Asia. Bill C-51 would criminalize the sale or even the free distribution of unapproved natural products.

We appreciate your consideration of this matter. We believe this Bill should be stopped in its entirety. Please see below for how you can act to make a difference in the outcome of this legislation.

- you are opposed to Bill C-51;
- you want him/her to vote against Bill C-51;
- you want your access to natural health products protected.

To freethinkers I feel you must become aware of the true allegiance your elected representatives actually prostrate themselves to and the con goes on!

This is an unedited letter I sent to others who had attended the Health Canada meeting to garner stakeholder input to Bill C-51.

We are a small group of concerned Canadians prepared to take action to counter the efforts of the government to restrict your health care options and allow NGOs and others to trump Canadian law imposing their laws upon Canada with no recourse under law to oppose.

I hope you are as alarmed as I am and are willing to fight back!

While not directly connected to our shared goal this is the sort of advise I tend to pass on to others in furtherance of our common goals. Friends you may now more fully understand my proclivities and the
nuances of my humor as both sides of the family originate from the north of Hadrian's wall.

Cinnamon, chocolate and tomatoes are good for high blood pressure, so why do I continue to pay over $2000.00 a year for medication that only hides the problem when choosing to eat the appropriate foods can correct the problem?

The reason is that much inquiry and questioning of motive and morals has led me to trust cinnamon, chocolate and tomatoes over Statin drugs and other suggested options my quandary is further complicated by the often unexpected high blood pressure readings that cause me to resort to the drugs I often must rely on to regain the appearance of a healthy status.

It remains critical in my view to remember that nothing is cured by these drugs and the root cause of the problem persists, and will remain until the body can fully repair the underlying cause, as the health care industry and government really has no interest in cures.

They persist on keeping you ill but alive!

This may seem recklessness and folly but a full and careful examination suggests my opinion is no less valid than that offered by an often corrupt pharmacological industry hell bent on eliminating all competition without regard to patient health, but rather to shareholder stock values!

Bills C-51 52 and 507 are but a few examples of the reckless path our government has chosen to follow.

I recently attended a stakeholders meeting put on by Health Canada at incredibly short notice, that was designed to quell the opposition to these acts.

The unintended result was to cause a grass roots coalition of attendees to conglomerate and now attempt a coup to overthrow these adventures being undertaken by an immorally corrupt government that is willing to offer up the sovereign rights of Canada to the alter of Corporate greed.

Please get involved in this issue and use your whole being to protect your rights and the future of Canada as an independent sovereign nation.

Learn to trust your self.

I do not advocate ignoring the advice given by established medical tradition, however it must be seen as an opinion to be considered along with other wholly valid options that must not be ignored.

Always ask the tough questions, if you can't think of them ask for proof that their advice is good and valid!

Always take notes that will rattle them and help you in getting the whole story thereby helping to keep them honest!!
