On 11-2-07, the FDA solicited public comments on proposed rulemaking to set new reference values of the percent of fluoride's daily value for specific foods. These daily values (DV) will be used on food nutriition labels that are oriented to the consumer. FDA states in the proposed rulemaking: “As can be seen from [table 11b] of this document, the population-coverage and population-weighted AIs [Adequate Intake] for fluoride... exceed the UL [Tolerable Upper Intake Level] for children 4 to 8 years.”
